This book was sooo cute! It really shows a mother's love. I also like how his mom wasn't worried about his sexuality. It was a just I'll love him no matter what he identifies as situation. RESPECT. This was a book I was very excited to read once I saw the cover. I am so here for this wave of YA fantasy books with characters of Color by authors of Color! I'm also loving the normalization of trans characters, representation is everything. This was an interesting read, if you like slow paced books this one is definitely a slow build. I did notice a lot of repetition of certain situations. to me that was kind of annoying. However, I did like how there was an emphasis on culture in this book. I thought is was beautiful how much Voya and her family were aware of there family history and heritage. I wish I had the closeness that Voya has with her cousins. The dialogue in this book gave me life; "I don't care, there's sweat under my boobs, I'm unhappy." Books that make me actually laugh out loud have a special place in my heart. This book was amazing and I'm excited to see where we'll go in the sequel! This was a book I was very excited to read once I saw the cover. This is basically a teen story of our main character Mandy becoming comfortable with herself. Adding the fact that her mother is a superhero Starfire, I can fully understand her struggle of trust issues. Her best friend Lincoln is awesome sauce. Although trying to figure out her life, I love the fact that Mandy adamantly marches to the beat of her own drum. Tat is very much me, and I applaud anyone else with that attitude. A very entertaining and cute read; I loved that illustrations! That fashion was also beautiful. A must read and LGBTQ friendly! Loving how often this is coming up in books now as straight is not the default. Happy Reading. 🙂This is basically a teen story of our main character Mandy becoming comfortable with herself. This book helped me learn so much about myself! It was so freeing to finally learn about being an introverts and what all that entails. Susan Cain does great research to back her facts. I loved the many examples given on how the world is constructed for extroverts and how that isn't necessarily a good thing ALL the time. This graphic novel was "girls have cooties" on steroids. The measures taken to suppress estrogen is extreme and laughable (in a good way). The art in this was very beautiful with its bold colors and textures. I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading this, I could not put it down until I finished it. This was a really good movie. I'm a fan if Debra Messing, so that's what initially got my attention about it. The entire cast performed very well. There were twist that I did not expect which really had me on the edge of my seat. Great watch!

This was such a bittersweet read. I think this busy, time traveling series was wrapped up pretty nicely. The last moment with all the girls together gave me the feeling I had on my high school graduation day (the old heads will know what I mean). I listened to this audio book which was read by the author Elizabeth Acevedo and it was phenomenal! Her style of writing was beautiful and they way her words flowed together was very heartfelt. She spoke about real things young ladies experience when our bodies develop in our teen years and men feel they can talk and treat us in certain ways. Just because the main character Xiomara had curves, did not mean she was fast (she was quite the opposite), she couldn't help the way her body was shaped. She did not take mess from anyone. I wish I had her courage and fierceness at that age. This book is full of beautifully flawed characters that made the story everything it needed to be. Definitely one of my favorites reads from 2019.I listened to this audio book which was read by the author Elizabeth Acevedo and it was phenomenal! This book was soooo cute. Its great to read book about becoming comfortable in your own skin. The main character, Moth, is your average teen in school who doesn't fit in with her peers. She later finds out how unique she really is and begins to embrace herself. As a black woman I have to say is was lovely to see this beautiful brown family live their life on the pages. The illustration and colors were magical which just added to the characters' quirkiness. Easily one of my favorites book from 2019!This book was soooo cute. First, I must mention the cover, that is what originally sold me on this book. It's so simple, yet breath taking. The color contrast...OMG! It just interprets the book so well. From the very beginning to the end, I was captivated. Rebecca Roanhorse does an amazing job transporting readers to the pre-Columbian Americas era. The representation in this book is so necessary. A cast containing POC who identify as gay, non-binary and everything in between? Uh yes please! A sea captain who has a deep connection with the sea that even some of her crew admire/fear her for. Sign me up! I am now a forever fan of Rebecca Roanhorse. The Between Earth and Sky trilogy shall defiantly have a place on my bookshelf. Can’t wait for the sequel!First, I must mention the cover, that is what originally sold me on this book. It's so simple, yet breath taking. The color contrast...OMG! Hearing her read this and using silly voices, just made it all the more real. I applaud her for opening up about her struggles, especially those concerning pregnancy. This graphic novel was AMAZING! The art color scheme was beautiful; and the story was so relevant to today's issues. The spotlight on BLM, police brutality, and being black in America spoke volumes! I don't want to give any spoilers, but they way all the characters were woven together was well done. I really hope there is a sequel to this. This graphic novel was AMAZING!
