maybe it works for others as many excellent reviews?

This is one of my all time favorite books and one I recommend to almost anyone. Even if you don't like Amanda Palmer's music or creative aspirations the message in the book of acceptance and community is inspiring. Her humor and candid…

Very inspiring woman. I was drawn to the title as I too have difficulty asking for myself; asking for others not a problem.
I now want to track down Amanda's music and art, it sounds intriguing. Picked up a book of short stories by Neil…

Audiobook has some music. Strange type of book to class. Definitely more "autobiography" than anything , but with the intent of letting the reader develop his or her own understanding from the author's (very personal) insight. Open and…

I found this book to be entertaining and enlightening. It dealt with why people struggle sometimes to ask for the things we need and followed Amanda Palmer's incredibly intriguing life story up until now. I've never actually heard of…
Some inspiring stories about humanity. In case it concerns you, warning about her use of irreverent religious references and coarse language. Based on online readers' comments, I'm glad I listened to the audiobook, I do not think I would…

The first 20 pages seem to just be a reiteration of her TED Talk and following that, the book loses steam and also my interest. I usually find Amanda Palmer's work hit or miss, but I find that her written work here is definitely not up to…

Actually listened to the audio which has songs and more content, not available through CPL. Good, inspiring read, could do with less 'teaching Neal to love'

This is one of those books that smacked me upside the head and made me rethink...well, pretty much everything. I've admired Amanda Palmer for a while, but The Art of Asking resonated with me at a subatomic level and illuminated some things…

An interesting life for sure. However I didn't find the writing compelling enough to read the whole book.
In my opinion most of the appeal of this title would be the DIY strategies for musicians and performance art.
