Stuart Gibbs did a great deal of research for this novel (the first in a trilogy) and it shows in the details. Plus he remembers what it was like to be a kid leading to some very funny observations in between moments of suspense and juvenile detective work. The ending was a bit of a stretch but the journey itself was a lot of fun. A good read for young and old.
Plot: The Space Case is a science fiction and mystery book set in 2041 on a Moon Space Base. Dr. Holts, a world renowned scientist, is found dead after he went on an unauthorized moonwalk and died because his gear was not put on properly. The moon back head, Nina, claims that the Dr.Holts chose to go moonwalking because he had gotten “space madness”. The main character, a 12 year old named Dash, met the doctor a few hours before his death and is suspicious that the doctor had gone insane. The doctor was not only fine when Dash met him but he was overjoyed over a discovery he made. When Dash tries to talk to his parents and other adults they just wave away his concerns. Dash makes it his missions to find the murder with the help of his friends. Will Dash be able to find the killer? What was Dr.Holts incredible discovery? Find out that and more by checking out the book.
My thoughts: I think that the Space Case is an incredible book for a few reasons. The first reason is the plot. The plot of the book is not only exciting with all of it’s plot twists, it also has very intense moments that are very intense. I also enjoyed the flow of the mystery. All in all I would recommend the book “The Space Case” because of the plot and mystery.
I was given this book as a birthday present when I was 10 and wasn't sure if I would like it. Turns out, it was one of my favourite books and I loved the story. The story has adventure, suspense, mystery, science fiction, and romance all together. Even if you or your kid isn't into space, it is really interesting and I learned some new facts about science and space from this book. I would encourage you to take out this book and give it a try. The author, Stuart Gibbs, is a fantastic writer and has other series like FunJungle and Spy School that are super interesting, too. I highly recommend reading this book and for some reason can't give it stars but it would deserve 6 out of 5!
OMG!!! this book is perfect for people that like funny, suspenceful, and can't-put-it-down type of books. My teacher read it to us, and everyone was hooked. This is an amazing book. 5 stars easily. There are 3 books in the series. Good as audio books as well.
is there another book? Personaly, I LOVED this book! it has adventure, mystery and comedy, and I want to make sure there is another before I start looking. Please comment if you know.
I really liked this book. It was very exciting and intriguing. Dash, his family, other scientists, and the Sjoberg family (tourists) are living on the Moon. Until suddenly, a top lunar scientist, Dr. Holtz, walks out onto the moon alone, with his space suit on wrong. After recently over hearing him in the bathroom talking to someone about a great discovery. Dash thinks it wasn't an accident, as in murder. But everyone thinks the old Doctor was going crazy, and this was a suicide. Dash soon finds two friends to help. Zan Perfonic and Kira Howard. My favourite part was when Dash and Kira were on the moon, also when Dash figures out Zan's secret. Zan was an alien, she was Dr. Hotlz's great discovery. He was the one talking to Zan in the bathroom. This book is not just for people who like space, if you like mystery, or adventure, this is the book for you!!
This is an exciting book full of suspense and mystery. I definitely recommend it!
When I grow up I want to go to space, so I loved this book.
I now looking for the second book!
This is a really good book! Some parts are a bit boring but overall a really good book.
This book is great book for mystery lovers cause there is a killer involved and it is the last person you expect it to be
"Life among the colonists on Moon Base Alpha is surprisingly dull and predictable... until the base's doctor is found dead. Though it looks like an accident, Dash Gibson has reason to believe that Dr. Holtz may have been murdered. There's no shortage of suspects, so Dash recruits two tech-savvy new friends to help with his investigation, never forgetting that they might be trapped in space with a killer. Combining a futuristic setting with the style of an old-fashioned whodunit, Space Case is a clever, twisty mystery." http://www.libraryaware.com/996/NewsletterIssues/ViewIssue/67314d73-b332-4408-8732-ec53459f86e3?postId=63bb335c-0042-4c5a-b583-94cdcc097bd0
