My son (almost 2) loves this book. He loves shouting out "how kind!" every time I prompt him with, "What did (this animal) say?", and he loves how the chick "Popped out!" at the end.

My overly critical brain struggles with the beginning and end of the story. Since the whole middle makes a certain sort of sense I want the beginning and end to, as well, but they just don't. Why would the chicken give the pig her egg at the beginning? And why would the pig think it was kind? I can't get over it. Hence less stars.
