An Olathe Library employee was an extra in this movie. In a scene where a bunch of concerned students are watching a broadcast (before the nuclear poo hits the global fan), she is one of them.

This movie was an event when it first aired in 1983. Something like 100M people watched the broadcast. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged well, with uneven performances, shallow characters, and a rather preachy tone. Even so, it was interesting to see it again 35 years later. If nothing else, it reminds us that nuclear weapons are not just another weapon to use in war.

Cold war for sure - but remember the original film was done in 1983 (about 8 years before the "cold war" ended) (until Putin restarted it).
It was originally a TV movie - and was released on DVD in 2014......
