Bumpy is a good word. This might have been one of my favorite books had I read it in my most awkward of teenage years. It gets a little less quirky as you continue on and seems to employ some of the more traditional faerie lore that I most enjoy. The story just felt a little bit too "Picasso" for my taste.

Imogene is determined to change. A new school means a new beginning, right? First step is to find a friend that is completely different from the group she used to run with. Who cares that this friend, Maxine, is an outcast with a control freak for a mother? Imogenes grades are going up and she is learning to control her temper.

But there's a problem.

Imogene's school is haunted by the ghost of a student who threw themselves off the roof years ago. He's got a crush on Imogene and has turned to his fairy friends for help. Unfotunately the fairies involved have some problems with making the best choices.

Well written, this Charles de Lint book is aimed at the teen set. There is tension, and a real sense of what high school is like. Imogene is a very powerful charater, a real role model for troubled teens trying to straighten out. Worth getting.

It was and awsome book, but i found it hard to change in my mind who was the "I" when ever there was a new chapter and plus the i didn't read some of the chapters ( the ghost guy or the dude) i didn't really want to know about him so i skipped all the chapters that were about him....-_- except for the one where he told about his past ( if that was in one of his chap) anyways other then that it was an awsome book loved it.....>.<
