Certainly an interesting Bergman film. Similar to da Ponta's libretto for Mozart's opera...
Characters, unfortunately, were one-faceted...not really any exploration of character. No one "grows" and that makes the film feel very stilted. One needs to remember this is early Bergman.

I didn't find this the least bit funny and the humour escaped me entirely. It was very over the top, predictable, and silly in a lot of respects. I guess that's where the humour lies, but I didn't laugh.

I was bored out of my mind with this movie, and didn't bother to watch it to the end.

Undoubtedly a masterpiece of joy with Bergman revealing a surprising comic side. No one who loves "A Little Night Music" Sondheim's version, should miss this, its a gem !

I agree with eusibius but only to the 4th star. Bergman and Nyqvist do a lot with black and white and this is a pretty painless introduction to Bergman. Very Swedish in attitude with a nod to French bedroom farce. This is no Hollywood meet cute rom com.

I really enjoyed this one. I want to buy it.
For learning Swedish, Bergman's films are great. I also watch a lot of Swedish crime drama on MHZ network, but the dialogue is much faster.

This is one of Bergman's great comedies (he didn't make that many) and should be enjoyed by anyone who likes amatory intrigue. Woody Allen used some of the ideas in his work.

I am generally a Bergman fan but must admit I find the story of this film a bit light and trivial. As a result I did not enjoy it that much. B/W with subtitles.
