Contrary to what the blurb says, this wasn't particularly funny - there were just moments that made me laugh - but it was very moving, especially if you grew up with a drunkard. Queenan has a way with words, although sometimes he gets a bit carried away with his on cleverness, so the writing is worth the read.

I actually listened to this book on CD, but the reader is horrible, mispronouncing words that he should have looked up if he didn't know them. The worst was "Giuseppe Verdi" with "Giuseppe" pronounced with a hard G as in "Gil."
