VERY GOOD 1954 film bio of talented musician/band leader Glenn Miller. James Stewart (quite a tall guy) does fine job in lead role - as does June Allyson in her role. I particularly enjoyed her in that twirling pleated skirt at their 10th wedding anniversary party.
Interesting how Miller was part of the late 40's rise in teenage participation in evolution/purchase of popular dance music.

This is a 1954 American film about the eponymous American band-leader, directed by Anthony Mann.
It is purely a time trip to those years, when Glenn Miller's band ruled the record charts and anchored the airwaves.
The film captures Miller's spirit beautifully and follows his life story with reasonable fidelity.
However, there are several anachronisms in the picture.
When the military band led by Miller is playing in front of General "Hap" Arnold, a B-29 bomber is in the background.
This is highly doubtful because they were introduced in May 1944 and the parade seemingly is in 1942.
Also, the marching troops are desegregated, which didn't happen until 1948.
In any case, it is one of the most charming and touching musical biography.
