A sophisticated, page-turning double love story spanning forty years-an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times.

It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband.

Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives. She becomes obsessed by the story and hopeful that it can resurrect her faltering career. Perhaps if these lovers had a happy ending she will find one to her own complicated love life, too. Ellie's search will rewrite history and help her see the truth about her own modern romance.

A spellbinding, intoxicating love story with a knockout ending, The Last Letter from Your Lover will appeal to the readers who have made One Day and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society bestsellers.

Such a gifted writer and story teller. Nearly read it in one day!

My decision to read this is because it will be released as a movie staring Shailene Woodley and Felicity Jones later this year. Meyers writes a compelling story that will hopefully turn the tale into a legitimate production and not a saccharine Hallmark theme. It's a tale of extramarital lovers that are polarized by events only to be discovered a generation later through lost letters.

JoJo Moyes created a story that spans 40 + years. . The characters and their conversational language changes with the times . Backward and forward in time making you think about what was really happening.

I found myself really liking most of the characters and able to empathize with them.

It kept my interest to the last page and was satisfied with the story and its messages.

What a beautiful story! Couldn't put it down.

I wish I could say that I truthfully liked this book, but I can’t. It isn’t that the author isn’t a good writer and she has an interesting story line. She makes it so you want to read on and find out what happens, but the book can sort of bring you down with its hopelessness. Yes, in the end things work out, but so many years have passed, and i find it hard to believe that people’s lives and ideas of others wouldn’t change along with time. I didn’t care for the length of time betweeen Jessica and Anthony’s reuniting, and then boom! The whole story’s quest ends and takes off with new characters!
I didn’t really care for Ellie at all. She seemed like she was so willing to be used and throughout, by allowing this use, underestimated her worth.
Adultery is a dead-end street. This book shows some of that, but it also sort of glamorizes it. I don’t agree with its glamorization.

This was a great story, if not a little bit of a slow read for me. Not one to keep me up wondering about what was going to happen if I didn't read the next chapter, but would be great if ever adapted to the big screen.

This one had me in AGONY and up all night. How two people could miss connecting by mere minutes or threads of communication for YEARS on end! The guilt, the self punishment, the constraints of society in the 1960's.....Honestly, if it weren't for the young reporter I would have thrown this book against the wall. And I absolutely LOVE the abrupt ending, leaving all to the imagination. THIS is typical JoJo for you!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jojo Moyes is a gifted storyteller. Her writing is brilliant and she really knows how to engage her readers. I'm obsessed with her books and I still have 5 more of them to read. The Last Letter from Your Lover is a good romance novel that's perfect for a Saturday spent a home or a trip to the beach. To be quite honest, I don't need a specific setting to enjoy Moyes' novels; that's how hooked I am on her stories.

My third Jojo Moyes book and I am becoming a fan. Love is simple yet so complicated and this book is a truly poignant love story. Couldn't put it down and every page kept me captivated by the characters. For anyone struggling at the beginning I'd just recommend you pay attention to the dates.

Whoa...what a concept. I devoured this novel by the author of "Me Before You." I would recommend this and "The Girl You Left Behind" as some of Moyes' stronger books.
