This is an amazing and thought provoking conclusion to a wonderful series. This novel takes a very substantial and dramatic turn from its predecessors. It delves deeper into the worlds that were created so beautifully by Pullman and uncovers hidden truths that will leave you questioning what you thought you knew and trying to reflect on the first two books in light of new discoveries.

Loved the first two books, lots of non stop action and fairly good character development, but obviously a fairly offensive subject matter in this one that I would not have my 10 year old read. Made it to the angels and found my attention waning, there were too many worlds and too many creatures and silly subject matter to think we could defeat God (lol!). I am very tired of reading authors like Pullman who can not decidedly figure out how to end their novels with some good resolution. Its like they learned how to write an exciting book but no one taught them how to end it! ZZZzzzzzz!~

One of my favourite books of all time! Highly recommended.

Truly a classic trilogy. Even better, it can be enjoyed in adolescence and as an adult, so reading it again as an adult now brings nostalgia AND intrigue (still!). Very few fictions deserve such accolades, this one is a masterpiece!

A quick read; I was quite surprised by Mrs. Coulter's sacrifice; though not by Lord Asriel's. I really liked Lord Roke and his compatriots; also Mary Malone and the mulefa. I thought it neat the way she adapted to a different world so easily. It was very poignant what happens to Lyra and Will in the end. I am looking forward to reading Lyra's Oxford; although now that Pan has settled am not so sure if it will be as interesting. A book well worth reading.

I was intrigued by the series. I liked the ideas in the books and felt it was very imaginative. It was a lot different than the movie, there were some points I was shocked by how much difference there was. I have to say I was somewhat disappointed by the time I got to the third book. There was a little too much going on. However, overall, I thought watching the characters be changed by their experiences was well done.

I think that If you are a Christian, you shouldn't read this. That being said, I love the imagery in this book. The rich depiction of creatures. It also depicted them intelligently and scientifically... But the ending was very very disappointing. I hate uncomplicated happy endings (seriously). I agree with @LaurenAHHH ....

I more so tried to read this... starting in the 2nd book the mythological aspect was laid on a little thick for me and the opinions were a little too blasphemous for me to buy into.

The ending felt like an odd turn for the books, but I still enjoyed reading it. His writing was consistent throughout all three novels, but his resolution took an odd tone that ignored a lot of the established characteristics for both Lyra and Will.

I really loved this book. It was a great ending, but I was sad to see the pain that has built up in Lyra and I really wanted her to be happy. I loved how this was still an out of this world story line and I could almost believe that I was there, right beside her.
