Ten-year-old Jane Doe, the only student average enough to be excluded from the town of Remarkable's School for the Remarkably Gifted, is joined at her public school by the trouble-making Grimlet twins, who lead her on a series of adventures involving an out-of-control science fair project, a pirate captain on the run from a mutinous crew, a lonely dentist, and a newly constructed bell tower that endangers Remarkable's most beloved inhabitant--a skittish lake monster named Lucky.

Normally they tell you not to judge a book on its title, (or is it its cover?) but this book’s title says it all. Jane is a fifth-grade girl who lives in the town of Remarkable where everyone in the town is remarkable in some way. Poor Jane can’t even say she is the most unremarkable person due to the fact her Grandpa John is more unremarkable. However, the whole thing goes topsy turvy when pirate Captain Archibald Rojo Herring comes into town.
Remarkable has a lot of events going on and Lizzie K. Foley does a great job of putting it into one great book. There are a couple of mysteries, some really fun characters, lots of pirates, and an amazing moral. I recommend this book to third through fifth grades. I hope you enjoy this remarkable adventure!

Everyone in Remarkable is remarkable. Everyone except Jane, that is. While the rest of the town is busy being talented, gifted, or just plain extraordinary, she's never been anything but ordinary. Then Jane finds herself in school with the mischievous Grimlet twins, and her life suddenly gets a whole lot more interesting. And when a strange pirate captain appears in town, setting of a series of adventures that put the whole town in danger, it's up to Jane to save the day. Along the way, she might just find that she can be pretty remarkable after all.
