economic evaluations of a topic should be considered on its merits not necesarily by Your standards of social norms...

This book helps to promote racism as it provides information to readers about the reasons why slavery was good for the economy, was efficient and provided a social structure that was welcomed by most slaveholders. Fogel goes as far as stating that many slaves were not subjected to maltreatment. This is completely false. The contents in the book are appalling as slavery isn't merely morally wrong it is intrinsically wrong on all levels. I respectfully request that this book be removed from the shelves of the Brooklyn Public Library; it is more suitable for the shelves of the Alabama public library where I am sure there are many readers who still wish slavery existed.
