That's not the right title. Real title of book I read in Feb 2020 is written by Francis Bok; ESCAPE FROM SLAVERY, The True Story of My Ten Years in Captivity - and My Journey to Freedom in America. Written in the first person.
At age 7 in 1986 this black boy was kidnapped along with others from a marketplace in South Sudan by marauding North Sudanese Muslims who, every dry season, would 'raid' South Sudanese villages, kidnap kids and women and kill the men. They'd bring the women & kids to their homes as their slaves, treating them as animals due to their darker skin and Christian religion.
1986!!! You're fucking kidding, no?
Francis escaped on his 2nd or 3rd try and became a refugee in Khartoum I think, then was accepted to the U.S. where he became a high-profile political activist fighting verbally for help from the U.S, and others to stop that slave trade.

The really good Christan books and I enjoyed them vary well.
