Add a CommentI think Cantrell dragged Rollins down. Not up to par with his Sigma Force works. Ok, if occult, paranormal, blood-sucking to sustain life is your thing, have at it.
Innocent Blood --- by James Rollins and Rebecca Cantrell. The nice thing, well one of the nice things of reading library books is that if you borrow a book about a theme youโd ordinarily avoid, you can take it back. No loss. But when you but a book and plunk down twenty buck as I recently did to buy something that would help keep you from becoming stir-crazy at 35,000 feet youโre kind of stuck with it: just you, the book, and six hours of flight time. Especially bad if you failed to read the cover blurb carefully enough to fend of buying something distasteful. Well here I was ,me, the book and blood sucking, heartless (literally) strigoi, aka vampires. Iโve read enough of Rollins to know that he can serve up a mighty interesting dish of suspense and excitement, often with historical overtones. But if Iโd known this novel was gonna be full of night time hunters and blood feasters Iโd have left him on the shelf.. โI vant to bight yur neickโ has never been my favorite literary genre: it reminded me of that grainy, scratch black and white 1931 movie starring Bella โI vant to bight yur neickโ Lugosi. But you know what? This Rollins novel works. The concept of vampires is no more nonsensical than aliens from outer space. After all, didnโt Bram Stoker pioneer the field of Science Fiction when she wrote Frankenstein. Anyway, this book delivers thrills and suspense and action in the way we`ve become accustomed to having cooked up by Rollins.
disappointing. Rebecca Cantrell is so much better than that.. He dragged her down.To be fair not my type of book.
Although I enjoyed the plot and make belief, I felt that I was being transported to Hogwarts at times or even Twilight. The authors didn't come together as well as they did in the first series of the Order of Sanguines. Still awaiting patiently for the next book.
Much better plan and written sequel to THE BLOOD GOSPEL. Good plots, great development of characters and awesome storytelling. Can't wait for the next installment when our team face the challenge of 'The Legion'. Recommended read!
Excellent book. I had to struggle not to plow through it in one night. I cannot wait for the next installment.
Looking forward to the next one in the series. I suspect Elizabeta will become strigoi again, possibly even sanguinist.
