A combination of history and mystery as a 12-year-old named Eel works with the real-life Dr. John Snow to understand and prevent the London cholera epidemic of 1854. This story provides a wonderful depiction of lower class London life and makes medical research interesting and entertaining.

Packed with action and excitement, The Great Trouble gives readers a glimpse into the cholera epidemic in Victorian England. The scientific method is emphasized throughout, but the author doesn't get too distracted with the details.
