Boston, 1924. With her heart set on Hollywood, Ellis Eton is working as a telephone operator for a look-alike friend. She'll get acting practice plus the funds to get her a start in the movies. A disappointment to her wealthy Boston family, Ellis knows she's not good enough for neighbor and crush Griffin Phillips. Her plan is simple: avoid his attentions, work, and get paid. But in typical Ellis fashion, things spiral out of control when she overhears a menacing phone call ... with Griff as the target. With handsome policeman Jack Flanigan investigating -- and her heart in a muddle -- will she discover what might be the role of a lifetime?

I love Siri Mitchell and have now read all of her books, but this one is the only one I did not enjoy. It's very shallow. I think it must've been written for young adults. The rest are very good though.

Funny faith-based novel about a young woman, Ellis, who seems to have good intentions, but often finds herself in unpredictable situations.
