Marta and Hector have been married for a long time. Through the good and bad; through raising a son and sending him off to life after university. So long, in fact, that Marta finds it difficult to remember her life before Hector. He has always taken care of her and she has always done her best to be a good wife -- as advised by the dog-eared manual Hector's aloof mother gave her on their wedding day. But now that Marta has stopped taking her medication, something is changing. Flashes of movement in the corner of her eye, moments she can't recall. Visions of a blonde girl that only she can see. Perhaps Marta is starting to remember...

The end was very dissatisfying. The books plot was good and i liked what it was about but personally I wasn't hooked.

Psychological novel about a woman who suspects that things are not quite right although she seems to be in an ideal marriage and has a loving son. Easy, short read well told although sometimes you don't know the unreal from reality. The ending leaves you somewhat questioning the heroine's sanity : no doubt intended by the author.

Mixed feelings about this book. Started off iffy and I almost put it down after the first couple chapters. I did end up finishing it and did like the end, but was left feeling out of sorts because the author leaves the reading wondering what really happened and never does explain. Was Marta dealing with mental illness or an evil husband? We'll never know.

A desperate life and an ambiguous end. Was she mentally unwell or a victim of something more sinister? Hard to tell. Well written tension makes for uncomfortable reading - you wonder what is actually going on but never really find out!

An extremely depressing book that left a lot of questions unanswered. I won't be looking for more books from this author and would not recommend this one.
