This is a great, true baseball story to be shared with anyone who loves the sport, especially those in the K-5 range. Lena Blackburne wasn't the greatest Major League player, but he did contribute to the game in a way that may surprise you. He discovered mud! Not just any mud. A mud that was perfect for rubbing new baseballs to take away the shine and slickness so they were easier to see, throw, and hit far. His mud even made it to the Baseball Hall of Fame and is still used today! Couple it with "Mudball" by Matt Tavares and you'll be inspired and ready for the ballpark!
