Eleven-year-old Ella`s parents are divorced and Ella seldom sees her father. However, when her mother has cancer and must go away for extreme treatment and Ella`s dad says he is unable to have his daughter with him, arrangements are made for Ella to spent the time with her father`s mother, a grandmother she has never met. Ella must become used to her grandmother`s unusual house, her pet peacocks and her incredible `librerery`. It doesn’t help that her father and his mother do not get along and Ella does not know why. When a very valuable book goes missing, Ella and her new friend, Rosie, set out to find the thief and the book. This is a lovely story of family and friendships. Reviewed by BPL volunteer EE.
