I love them both. Glenda Jackson is amazing. >>420 and Genevive Bujold is the best Anne Boylen ~

Both were very good films (Anne a bit better, IMO) and made me review the actual history.

Glad we have now separation of church and state - and no more family inheritance of political power (kings and queens based on birthright).

Anne of a Thousand Days: 5 stars! A WONDERFUL FILM. It definitely wasn't historically accurate but it was funny and very entertaining. Genevieve Bujold and Richard Burton had amazing chemistry and fire! Bujold was a fantastic Anne Boleyn and the 'Elizabeth Shall be Queen' speech just completes the movie!

Mary, Queen of Scots: 4 stars. A rather sympathetic portrayal of Mary Stuart. A tragic heroine of sorts, and a true martyr. I love the Mary Stuart and Elizabeth Tudor scenes! I think they're the most memorable from the film. Again, the film was probably not too historically accurate.

A truly great film with a sympathetic edge for Mary, Queen of Scots.

Anne Boleyn: For six years, this year, and this, and this, and this, I did not love him. And then I did. Then I was his. I can count the days I was his in hundreds.

(Counts each by a 100 days marker)

The days we bedded. Married. Were Happy. Bore Elizabeth. Hated. Lusted. Bore a dead child... which condemned me... to death. One...thousand days. Just a thousand. Strange. And of those thousand, one when we were both in love, only one, when our loves met and overlapped and were both mine and his. And when I no longer hated him, he began to hate me. Except for that one day.

Anne Boleyn: But Elizabeth is yours. Watch her as she grows; she's yours. She's a Tudor! Get yourself a son off of that sweet, pale girl if you can - and hope that he will live! But Elizabeth shall reign after you! YES! Elizabeth: child of Anne the Whore and Henry the Blood-Stained Lecher, SHALL. BE. QUEEN!
Henry Tudor: You have asked for death. You shall have it.
Anne Boleyn: So be it. Only what I take to my grave, you take to yours. And remember this, Henry: Elizabeth shall be a greater queen than any king of yours! She shall rule a greater England than you could ever have built! Yes. MY Elizabeth SHALL BE QUEEN! And my blood will have been well spent!

Mary Stuart: My kingdom, my possessions, my child, my husband were all taken from me. I have been shut away for many years in abject misery and now I must die. It is my destiny. And it is your destiny, Elizabeth, to kill me. I leave to you the pomp, the power, the intrigue, and all that a prince in this world must endure or may enjoy.
