Pilgrim is the code name for a world class and legendary secret agent. His adversary is known only as the Saracen. As a young boy, the Saracen saw his dissident father beheaded in a Saudi Arabian public square, creating a burning desire to destroy the special relationship between the US and the Kingdom. When a woman's body is found in a seedy hotel near Ground Zero, the techniques are pulled from a cult classic of forensic science that Pilgrim wrote under a pen name. In offering the NYPD assistance with the case, Pilgrim gets pulled back into the intelligence underground.

plot...plot seemed so ridiculously plausible....excellent read!!!!!!!!!!
a great read following the exploits of the Pilgrim as he tracks across Europe to find the terrorist who is planning to unleash a small pox virus on the US. The story is intricately woven, delightfully filled with action and espionage. A satifying read.
The author's other writings include the Mad Max movies, Dead Calm and Payback.
One of the best.
I found this book to be a real page turner. I was riveted.
Terry Hayes has plenty experience writing for action movies. His first novel is loaded. I hope there is another.
I love the action and continuous twists of the story! Reads like a movie.
An international spy thriller and murder mystery with some sympathetic, multi=faceted characters and thought-provoking plot lines. Lots of action. It jumped around in time and place, so it's not easy to read in small bites, but a great vacation read. I'm hoping this is the first in a series.
I Am Pilgrim --- by --- Terry Hayes. You may be forgiven if you’ve never heard of this author: he’s new to the craft. Not that he hasn’t written before. As a screenwriter he’s been involved in films such as Payback and Mad Max. His eye for the cinematographic is immediately obvious right from the start of Pilgrim. This novel is a huge thriller. Set in the Middle East the plot revolves about a mujahid who has hatched a plan to loosen a smallpox epidemic upon the United States on Columbus Day. An American agent code named Pilgrim is charged with the seemingly impossible task of discovering the identity of Saracen and then bringing him to ground. Hayes has crafted a novel that is extremely complex with subplots, flashbacks and enough tension to keep you from putting this book down until you reach the
very last page. It will wow you.
gave up after a few chapters !
Mr. Hayes is a story crafter. There are many mysteries that are intertwined. The style is close to Mark Alpert, Steve Berry, and David Baldacci but more complex than Berry and much better ending than Baldacci.
It is a hard book to put down until it is finished.
