Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high. Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered--in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift, one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life.

I loved it! Mandy Williams read beautifully, and the story was compelling and well written; like other comments said, not your usual YA! Highly recommended if you're into fantasy.

This was far better than most YA fantasy. The romance was understated and the main character was neither whiny nor insipid. The world-building was excellent and the secondary characters were well developed.

This is a wonderful book! Beautifully written, and really inventive. Seraphina is a wonderful protagonist, and her experiences as an outcast and her inner struggle to find peace are poignant and powerful. There is a lot to be learned from this story!

Such a soothing reader. Perfect for the voice of Seraphina. Calm and soft, yet a strong.

This book is well worth reading, or in this case listening to. Great reader. I can't find ger name listed so will have to add that later.

I really enjoyed this book. Kind of scifi, but very thought provoking. Suitable for all ages, young and old.
