Add a CommentDuck wants to go out and do things, but Bear wants to stay home. Duck thinks Bear doesn't like him because he just keeps saying "no." In the end they show that they can be best friends even though they like very different things. A cute story about friendship.
What an excellent read! I read this in a storytime this morning for the first time and it had me and the kids laughing and wondering what would happen on the next page. The grumpy bear really resonated with the (somewhat) grumpy kids. There's some great repetition in the book (the bear saying "No" to a Duck's offers to play, explore, etc) and the kids were all shouting out the nos in line with the story. SO GOOD. I will definitely read this one again. The second book I read was This Book Will Not Be Fun by Cirocco Dunlap and I gave the kids a chance to cheer for the favourite and I Love You Already got the loudest cheers.
A good book about the excitement and grumpiness of friendship.
Bear wants some time to himself, but Duck has the whole day planned out. Bear co-operates, but he tells Bear that he's not happy- at all. Suddenly, duck hurts himself and bear is worried. His true feelings about Duck are expressed. Reminds me of relationships between siblings.
