A stylised version of slavery. I found that the slaves had exceptionally good language skills for people who had no education. Anything I have seen or read about that period, I was given to believe that if they talked like that they would be whipped for being "uppity".

slavery stererotypes? The way these human beings were treated then, and for a century afterword, was pure evil. So many whites still seem to think that being "The White Race" made it, at the time, god-blessed! Why do so many whites still seem to worship the color of their own skins, and believe others should do the same?

First, the north and the south did stuff bad. We should not be on either side. two, This show contained nudity, sexual content, language, and violence and gore. Not at all recommended. Stay away from this thing.

Clich├ęd but watchable, if you don't mind cringing through the "Hollywood" parts. Too much soap opera & chase scenes; too little (hi)story.

Good show and addictive to watch!

A very addictive series, great for marathon watching. It is a genuine story with fleshed out characters and relationships. The show has a very authentic feel to the pre-Civil War time period with a dash of current music thrown in the mix.

Not that bad.I am still sick & tired of seeing the slavery stereotypes though.
