What a magical book! Not only are the illustrations breathtakingly beautiful, but there are interesting analysis of the maps, and how they relate to the growth of the city, or the political background around each city's history. It's a BIG book, and heavy. Good for adults, teens and really curious kids.

There's another book in this series, Great Maps. Both are DK publications in their Smithsonian Handbook series.
