Not a great movie by any standards but it's a great story with a few good moments. I think Clifton Collins Jr. and Cheech Marin make the film even though the kids should be the focus. Some better child actors and a better script and this would be a classic of child sports movies. There is a book by W. William Winokur.

It's one of the best movies that I've watched. It's appropriate for the whole family, inspiring and there are so many angles to the movie. It makes a great gift for anyone who values a heart warming story. It serves to motivate one to overcome obstacles both external and internal. It's a welcome and refreshing contrast to movies of a violent depraved theme.
