Dark schemes unfold—and Sophie's loyalty is pushed to the limit—in this thrilling fifth book in the bestselling Keeper of the Lost Cities series.Sophie Foster is back in the Lost Cities—but the Lost Cities have changed. The threat of war hangs heavy over her glittering world, and the Neverseen are wreaking havoc. The lines between friend and enemy have blurred, and Sophie is unsure whom to trust. But when she's warned that the people she loves most will be the next victims, she knows she has to act. A mysterious symbol could be the key—if only she knew how to translate it. Every new clue seems to lead deeper into her world's underbelly and the Black Swan aren't the only ones who have plans. The Neverseen have their own Initiative, and if Sophie doesn't stop it, they might finally have the ultimate means to control her.

Lodestar written by Shannon Messenger, is the fifth book in the series, The Keeper of the Lost Cities. Following the page-breaking events in Neverseen, Sophie’s journey only gets more complicated with the lack of trust in herself and others. Thinking that after Neverseen, Shannon would give you a moment of peace? Well, sadly the adventure only starts from there, get ready for the twists and turns as the group discovers more than they may have bargained for. This novel is another 5/5 in my book, with the humour, friendship and wonder, this novel will keep you guessing until the end. The sixth book in the series, Nightfall is expected to be published in November of 2017.

BEST BOOK IN THE WORLD!! But the worst ending any author could ever write. I can't wait for the next book to come out!! I should've known the title of the next book was going to be Nightfall. It's perfect! I totally agree that Sophie and Keefe should become a thing! Shannon Messenger is the best author ever to live. I'm sure she has some special ability. Agreed?

I am so excited, but absolutely furious!!! I cannot STAND cliffhangers! Please, please, write the next one quickly...

Anyway, I loved Lodestar. This series just gets better and better with every book. With all those emotions swirling around, I began to feel like an Empath. Poor Sophie! She just wants to have a "normal" life. The plot gets more intense and everyone is written so beautifully. For one thing, doing good is much more difficult than doing evil, but our characters choose it anyway. Even during depressing moments, while Keefe risks his life to gain, well, not sure exactly what, but our wonderful author manages to lighten the mood while still keeping the serious tone. One of the best parts is the way we are given a peek at Sophie's emotions, how they are affecting her, and just how hard this is for her. The one drawback for younger readers would be the intensity of emotions and real problems that occur and might be too much. I could not put this down! (Oh, and I'm Team Keefe 110% :)
P.S. The next book, Nightfall, comes out on November 7th, 2017!
