"This original and provocative book presents a new framework for understanding the remarkable spread of Buddhism in today's globalized world. It also reminds us of what was so startling about the Buddha's vision of human flourishing,"--Amazon.com.

Be advised - Batchelor's brand of post-Buddhism has, by his own admission, no place for concentration meditation, sublime states of consciousness, discussion of the meaning of life, or theories about what happens to us when we die. What does it have instead? A general sense of existential awareness of how life is a miracle. Why do we need to read books about historical religious figures from other times and places to get that? Presumably because we want to be able to say we belong to the Buddhism club without actually doing anything.
