***Beware of N words throughout***
What have you got?
-We've got two victims in Brentwood on Bundy Drive. It's pretty brutal.
Brentwood? Nobody gets killed in Brentwood.
-Well, one of the victims is the ex-wife of O.J. Simpson.
-Marcia, O.J. Simpson. You know, the football player.
Yeah, I have no idea who you're talking about.
See, now Jim Brown cared about black people. He was an activist. He spoke up. Once O.J. made his money, he split and never came back. He became white.
-Aah. Well, you got the cops chasing him. He's black now!
We are Kardashians. And in this family, being a good person and a loyal friend is more important than... than being famous. Fame is fleeting. It's hollow. It means nothing at all without a virtuous heart.
There's only one way to shut up Dershowitz. Hire him.
When we face the prelim judge, we want to come out swinging. We concede to nothing. If Marcia Clark wants to go to the bathroom, we object. If they say the sky is blue, hearsay. Nothing will be admitted without challenge and provocation.
I'm not going to contest the DNA matches. I'm going to keep them out of court entirely. If it can be shown that there may have been errors in the collection or the handling of the samples used for the prosecution's DNA analysis, we can contest the validity of the evidence itself. At best, we get some of it thrown out, and at worst, we get the jury to question it, the very idea. We will attack every assumption, question every single molecule of evidence, every aspect of how that molecule was gathered, handled and analyzed. We will disrupt their presentation of physical evidence at every turn. We will hack at them. Make every piece of evidence presented either thrown out, untrustworthy or confusing.
Here's what I see as O.J.'s biggest problem.
-That he did it?
Okay. Here's what I see as O.J.'s second biggest problem... that pileup of egos called "The Dream Team." It's a dozen alpha dogs in a cage match. They are gonna tear each other up and implode.
I have no doubt you're gonna put him behind bars, but nobody in America is gonna vote to execute O.J. Simpson. Marcia, we can't even execute Charlie Manson.
Brother, I ain't trying to be respectful. I'm trying to win.
The reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Said it best: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." And so, here... we embark upon a search for justice. A search for truth. None of us were there on June 12, 1994. We must rely upon the witnesses to get a full picture.
I want you to know I never left anybody behind, Johnnie. I did what I had the right to do. I manifested myself out of a messed up situation. And don't think there weren't people back from where I came from hanging onto the back of my shirts the whole time with their hand out, trying to get me to drag them up, too. But it don't work like that. You got to get it on your own. Nobody can do it for you. And I ain't never apologizing for buying a beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. A neighborhood where you don't have people coming over the wall, trying to get at me, take what I earned.
The blood trail at the Rockingham property matches the defendant. The blood found on the glove recovered at Rockingham matches the defendant. The blood drops at the Bundy murder scene match the defendant. And the blood found in the Bronco matches a mixture of the defendant, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown.
I just wanted to impress upon everyone... And-and I'm sure Bob would agree... That the most important thing is the story. Now, Marcia's got the ball and she's telling a story, but instead of responding to her story, or refuting the story, we need to be telling a more credible one. We need to gather the jury around a fire and tell a better story. We need to make them believe.
Aris Isotoner, model number 70263. In the United States, the only place that sold them was Bloomingdale's in New York. Of all the 70263's, only 300 pairs were extra large. Bloomingdale's sold 200 of those. On December 18, 1990, Nicole walked into that store and bought two pairs of our gloves!
So you took this evidence home to Simi Valley? Simi Valley. The home of the officers involved in the Rodney King beating.
Uh, it's a look, that's for sure.
-This is not a look; this is a cry for help.
Mr. Cochran, take a good look where you're standing. We're in the South. Haven't you noticed the smell of mint julep and condescension in the air? Right behind you, there's a statue of a Confederate soldier holding a rifle. With all due respect, I don't know if you play as well in Dixie.
Would you agree, sir, that a blanket taken from inside her residence placed by law enforcement over her dead body could be thought of as a contamination of that scene?
-It's, uh... possible.
Here's the crime scene, Bundy. Here's O.J.'s house. Okay. Furhman made up his mind at Bundy that Simpson did it. Even though he had no idea if O.J. had an iron-clad alibi that would then ruin Furhman's career and land him in jail. Fuhrman takes the glove at Bundy, makes sure it has Goldman and Nicole's DNA on it, jumps in the car ...
These tapes have become a matter of national concern. Many entities have asked that they become public. So what I'm going to suggest... is that the defense play its presentation to the court in its entirety.
-"National concern"? This is a double homicide, Your Honor, not Iran-Contra!
I hate this woman, you know the type... dyed blonde, one-inch roots, slumped shoulders, a pouch big enough to hide cats in. She's the only marsupial on the police force.
See, if you did it like they teach you in the Academy, you'd never get a fxcking thing done. If the suspect doesn't talk, you give him a shot in the stomach with your stick, and you say, "Listen, boy, I'm talking to you." Or you just grab 'em by the
hair and you keep punching 'em until they go down. See, people don't want niggers in their town. People don't want Mexicans. They don't want anybody but good people, and any way you can do to get them out, that's fine. We have no niggers where I grew up.
He either deserves it or he doesn't. Falsifying a report? Whatever. That's putting a criminal in jail. That's being a policeman. Does that police station have the smell of niggers? They've been beaten and killed in there for 30 years.
-What about the other 13 hours?!
Uh, "The-The-Their value "is overwhelmingly outweighed by the danger of undue prejudice." "Prejudice"... that's a hell of a word to use.
Bob, you're blind. He's knocked out the manufacturing of evidence. That's what gets us to the planted glove.
-Now, look, I appreciate your passion. But we've been hired to defend a client, not to burn down a city. Now, I'm sorry that you're disappointed, and I understand...
It lends credence to all those who say the criminal justice system is corrupt. Now, Judge Ito is misleading this jury. Now, all the world knows who Mark Fuhrman really is, except our jury. Our jury will be left in the dark.
Vegas oddsmakers are offering six-to-five in favor of conviction.
Detective Fuhrman, is it your intention to assert your Fifth Amendment privilege with respect to all questions I may ask?
... may I ask just one last question? … Detective Fuhrman... did you plant or manufacture any evidence in this case?
-I assert my Fifth Amendment privilege.
No further questions, Your Honor.
I feel like I failed. All those hours of tape and the jury will only hear 12 words. --But the world... they heard the whole truth. The hell with O.J. Simpson. He is an imperfect vessel, but you... you... got your message out there. I'm proud of you, Johnnie.
I can't risk getting an all-white jury. I don't want to hear the words "Rodney King" or "Simi Valley" ever again.
-I don't know. Doesn't Simpson deserve a jury of his peers? You know, rich, middle-aged white men?
-I'm kidding. It's the truth, but I'm kidding.
And they want to tell you that the police conspired against Mr. Simpson. This case is not about the "N" word. It is about O.J. Simpson and the "M" word, "murder." I'm not afraid to point to him and say he did it. Why not? The evidence all points to him.
He's a murderer. He was also one hell of a great football player. But he's still a murderer.
If you don't stop this cover-up, who will? Send them a message. Let them know that your verdict will travel far outside these walls. Ladies and gentlemen, remember these words: if it doesn't fit, you must acquit. If it doesn't fit, you must acquit. If it doesn't fit... you must acquit.
