“Drew is in San Francisco for his ex-girlfriend’s wedding. When he finds himself stuck in an elevator with Alexa, they hatch a plan to go to the wedding together, pretending to be a couple. Told in alternating points of view, this is a delightful multicultural romance.”--Elizabeth Gabriel, Milwau... Read More »
Contemporary romance. Refreshing heroine who is a hard-working professional and has a platonic work husband. The story doesn't shy away from the issues of interracial relationships, including Alexa (who is black) explaining to Drew (who is white) his privileged status. (Warm)
What do you do when your ex invites you to her wedding? Bring a fake girlfriend, of course.

Add NoticesSexual Content: Book contains sex scenes between two adults. The sex between the two leads is pretty vanilla and is vaguely written. Readers of other romances won't find anything too distressing.
Coarse Language: This book has very offensive and vulgar profanity laced throughout.

Add a CommentWow, this was not a good book. I have no problem with a story being "light," "cute," or even "chick lit," but it still has to be well written. In addition to the corny character cliches, the repetition - as mentioned by other reviewers - got plain tedious. The constant (nonexplicit) sex scenes were not only irritating, the author somehow managed to make them downright boring. I don't think I could have handled more description of "Drew stroking Alexa's arm" or Alexa thinking about "how hot!" Drew was. And don't get me started on Drew's abusive treatment of his best friend, Carlos... It was as if the author just gave up trying to come up with new ways to describe things - probably because nothing new happened.
I know it’s a popular book. I found it boring and the story line repetitive. Made it to 60% and skipped to the last chapter. It was meh.
An easy and enjoyable, if predictable read.
funny,entertaining
1st book in the series
I am having a tough time reviewing this book as I am torn between I loved this book and I hated it so I am going the in between route.
I wanted to love it which I did for about almost half way through but then it got very annoying. Yes, the whole story was predictable which I would have been fine with (to be fair I am fine with the ending) but it did get very repetitive and I felt like things were thrown in there just to increase the length of the story.
I loved the interracial couple thing and did not know about this particular bit until I started reading it. I liked Alexa for the most part but she did annoy me when she was being so immature and had a fit at the party just like that. And speaking of immature, Drew was immature for the most part and although I liked him I liked Alexa better. I liked how they were carrier driven. I also liked the instant chemistry between them.
I did not like the repetitive things from half way through to the end of the story. I did not like how Carlos were there just help Drew realize his feelings for Alexa and how he got abused for being a good and caring friend. I know nothing else about Carlos except that he is best friends with Drew and his ethnicity. I still don't know why Theo was in the story except for sending few work emails and get donuts and stuff like that.
I wish the characters were a bit more mature and the story had a bit more depth to it and a lot less annoying to read.

Review excerpt: "'The Wedding Date' is charming and delightful, and it saved me from getting overly hysterical on a flight to Costa Rica. It’s not a perfect book, and I found myself giving the hero my “WTF” face a few times, but the awesomeness of the heroine thrilled me."

I wanted to enjoy this book, but I could never really get into the story. I blame Drew for this- I just couldn't feel much attraction to his character. It wasn't that he was bad- it was that he was blah and entitled. I constantly felt like Alexa was the only real person in the relationship.
I enjoyed the love story of Drew and Alexa. It was very satisfying to read. I can't wait to find out more about them!
I thought the initial wedding date was a cute intro, but then the story continues to repeat the same scene seemingly over and over. The small things the main duo fights over are really idiotic and not worth writing a book about.
