3rd book
This was a fun addition to The Wedding Date series. I liked how Maddie and Theo were not fans of each other but have a chemistry they can't ignore. My husband and I were the same way. We met in college and I did not like him in the beginning. He was obnoxious and rude. Now we have been married for 31 years. So you never know. The writing was fun, the characters had a lot going on with Theo's rally and Maddie trying to get a TV show along with Alexa and Drew's wedding planning. There were laughs, tears and a LOT of pizza. It seemed like every time they ordered food it was pizza. Theo loved roasted garlic and Maddie liked pepperoni and black olive.
This is a great read for a few hours on the beach or a long flight.
Totally predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless.
I hope to be reading new Jasmine Guillory books until the day I die, at which point, with any luck, I will be resurrected into one myself. I am forever in awe of Guillory’s skill at creating characters the reader would go into battle to protect who also manage to be flawed enough to screw things up for a realistic and understandable third act conflict that nevertheless feels fixable in a non-toxic way.
I don't know. It checked most of the boxes in romcom. However, the conflict isn't quite there & it felt bit too light. Praise by Reese Witherspoon doesn't help at all.
As many have pointed out, not much happens in terms of epic plots in these books, but you can see where the characters get hung up and make bad calls. Very realistic in that sense. It's fun and a nice compliment to the other reads.
I love Jasmine Guillory's heroines. They are each feminine on their own terms while being clear about what they want and are willing to accept in romantic relationships. Super fun summer escape reading!
Jasmine Guillory’s latest is another charming contemporary romance with great diversity and realistic, likable characters. Maddie and Theo may share Alexa as a best friend, but that doesn’t mean they have to like each other. After a one night stand turns out to be much more fun than they expected, our couple starts a secret fling. If you are a fan of Guillory’s other books, you’ll be happy to see the previously-introduced Maddie and Theo take center stage in this light-hearted comedy.
This was my first read by Jasmine Guillory although I have had her books on my TBR list as soon as I read the plot summary of "The Wedding Date." The banter between Theo and Maddie was entertaining, but they spent a majority of the book having secret sex and eating pizza. There was just not enough of a plot for me. Not enough wedding planning drama and too many booty calls.
