"Overall, I think this movie is fantastic. Rocketman is a must-see movie for anyone who loves Elton John’s music, anyone who loves musicals and anyone who appreciates colorful direction. I think it would also be a must see for anyone in the LGBT community. It doesn’t make a joke out of Elton’s sexuality nor does it feel forced even though it’s part of who he is. The acting is fantastic out of everyone in this film, particularly Taron Egerton leading the helm. Jamie Bell and Richard Madden are also fantastic."

Started watching this one with an open mind, and was very satisfied when I finished. The music was still in my head as I went to sleep that night.

I really enjoyed the music in this film, and I discovered lots about Elton John I didn't know before. It was interesting to learn more about Bernie Taupin and their professional career together. I didn't realize they had been working together for so long!

It's a musical, and I didn't enjoy this one. Good performance but not well put together.

Hold on to your seat, this movie is quite a ride. A rock-operatic combination biography and steam of consciousness story -- from EJ's perspective -- about the hugely successful composing and performing artist Elton John. The film's visuals appear to be influenced by the 1970's rock-opera, The Who's "Tommy", in which a younger EJ --- perhaps not so coincidentally --- appears as the PinBall Wizard. May give you some idea what to expect. My only minor complaint is the film is about 30 minutes too long. The story-line would flow better if the segment where EJ's life goes into a bit of a tail-spin were compressed to 30 minutes rather than an hour. This may not be quite the biography you are expecting, but it covers the story well, and even better, very artistically. Certainly for EJ's fans, toe-tapping entertainment.

The beginning of the movie made me sad but the ending shows how humans can lift themselves up.

More inventive and enjoyable than your average biopic but predictably hits a wall when the movie melts down into standard the sex-drugs-and-rock-and-roll conflict. Taron Egerton does excellent work but this jukebox musical would have worked better at a tight 90 minutes as the last 30 minutes are a real slog.

Elton John's reflections on his life during an Alcoholic's Anonymous session. The movie is a series of flashbacks which reveal the evolution of his enormous musical talent.

Before I watched the movie, I didn't realize how many of his songs are part of the soundtrack of my mind. I also didn't realize his personal life was so painful and devoid of love for most of his life. It's sad that musical genius with enormous talent had parents who rejected him.

After I watched the movie, I ordered a CD set of his music.

Different than I thought it would be, but in a good way! I didn't realize it was actually a musical! But it was very well done. Elton's life is not an easy one though, and two-thirds of the movie are darn depressing as a result. But despite that, it was highly entertaining!

Streets Of Laredo lyrics duet by Taron Egerton & Jamie Bell

As I walked out in the streets of Laredo
As I walked out in Laredo one day
I saw a young cowboy, wrapped all in white linen
Wrapped in white linen, as cold as the clay
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy, I know I've done wrong
I see by your outfit that you are a cowboy
These words he did say as I boldly walked by
Come sit down beside me and hear my sad story
Got shot in the breast and I know I must die
Go fetch me some water, a cool cup of water
To cool my parched lips, then the poor cowboy said
Before I returned, his spirit had left him
Had gone to his Maker, the cowboy was dead
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy, I know I've done wrong

26 quotes in IMDb already, thank you! The most moving ones are those between Elton and Bernie:

Bernie Taupin: I love you, man. I do, but... not in that way.
Elton John: Thank you, Bernie.
Bernie Taupin: You're my brother.
Elton John: Bernie. I never told you how much I need you.
Bernie Taupin: No, no, no. I love you, man. Always have, always will. You write songs that millions of people love. And that's what's important. You just need to remember who you are, and be okay with it.
