A fun and funny take on the classic Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery with a stellar cast all chewing the scenery in the best way possible. (And who knew Don Johnson was such a good, wry actor? Not me!) I liked it even more watching it a second time, even though I knew whodunnit.

I concur with maipenrai's Mar 09, 2020 comment. It is a redux of a much copied Agatha Christie story with a modern twist that at the center is a Latina nurse aide whose shallow character development is another force fitted doughnut hole. Also, how about Roger Craig's unkempt appearance to the grace and style of Hercule Poirot, the iconic detective we are familiar with. Nonetheless, funny and different script which was nominated for this year's Oscar for best Original Screenplay.

Awesome movie. Enjoyed this "whodunnit" that has a ton of misdirections and clever setups.

Con: Daniel Craig's accent

I wish I could put my finger on why I didn't care for this movie. I liked Daniel Craig in it because I've never seen him in anything but Bond. My favorite character was the one who was killed off in the first 30 minutes. I've been watching the series Line of Duty about police who go after "bent coppers" and the stories are very complex and well played. This film was too showy and I have never been partial to a film being drama and then comedic, it even irritated me when I was a kid and watched Abbott and Costello and the various monsters they encounter.
So not a recommendation from me on this one.

The only actor missing in this film is Kevin Bacon. This Agatha Christie inspired whodunit has an absolutely loaded cast and had me guessing until the very end of the film. Watching Daniel Craig butcher a Southern accent is worth the price of admission alone. If you get a chance, watch the SNL skit from this past season where he reprises his role in this movie. He clearly had fun with this one. Hands down one of my favorites from 2019.

A twisting tale of "whodunit" in the genre of Agatha Christie with Murder on the Orient Express. You meet each character and see how the story intertwines during the investigation by Detective Benoit Blanc. I had trouble accepting the fake southern accent of Daniel Craig but loved the overall feel of the movie.

A twisty, turny mystery featuring an all-star cast. This one kept me guessing the whole time.

One of my favorite films of 2019, and definitely my favorite movie of 2019 that didn't make me cry. Brilliant script and sharp performances.

"Overall, I really liked this movie a lot. It’s one of the best of the year and it’s going on my list. I liked the characters; the cast was great and clearly had a ton of fun playing these roles. The story is written really well written, with smart and funny dialogue. The film also has a great look to it. My only problem, that I could think of was that it feels too long, it’s probably not too long but it felt like it. But in the end, Knives Out is a fun and smart murder mystery that allows the viewer to be interested in the characters while also working with the detective to figure out just who murdered Harlan Thrombey."

Rule Number One, “My House My Rules My Coffee”. Knives out is a drama thriller movie directed by Rhian Johnson with amazing actors like Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas and Chris Evans. It is a wonderfully made modern take on Whodunnit and it is a must watch! I really liked the atmosphere that the movie created and it was really suspenseful! Ana de Armas really captures the “good girl” character of Marta (the nurse). I will not spoil the end, but I was really shocked with the ending and it will definitely be satisfying for all viewers. Overall, the movie is very interesting and I recommend it for those who like murder mysteries. Five out of five stars from me!

28 quotes in IMDb and they are all good. Thanks to its contributors. There are no doubt a few more memorable depending on one's interest. e.g.

One thing I assume of age is weariness. Damned if I don't get more tired every day. Tired of what I do. Following arcs like lobbed rocks, the inevitability of truth. But the complexity and the gray lie not in the truth but what you do with the truth once you have it.
