This movie won't make sense unless you've seen The Room, but if you have, this is hilarious!

Two francos for the price of one. One franco ain't no laughin' matter so you better be ready

OMG we LOVED this movie!!! Amazing job that James Franco did, just amazing. The story is so unusual and the film was incredibly true to life. Watched as a group, wasn't that into seeing it, but absolutely everyone liked it!!! Not for a teen or millenial to understand or appreciate, must be an adult, to understand dreams and desires and making them come true. Ironic and spellbinding.

This was about a recreation of a movie of back in the day. It wasn't for me. However, the original seems to have a cult following. To each their own. The acting was good, but the subject matter was lacking.

Funny how JAMES FRANCO and company had SO much talk going on as Award Season started, then suddenly that lady (or more) comes out w/ the sexual harassment allegations, and poof...James isn't even allowed at the shows, much less nominated. (hmmm?) I KNOW there is truth to most of the stuff w/ Cosby and Weinstein, etc., but why right then, if it is true about JF anyway?
It is as if competitors wanted him out of the running? I dunno... oh, and I haven't seen this yet, or the ROOM, but just was wondering.

The movie itself is mediocre, but the performances are fantastic and deserved Oscar nominations. Outsiders try to crack Hollywood and it's really about friendship between a struggling actor and a man that might very well be a vampire (kidding, but some people actually think he is one). Tommy defies belief, but that's what makes it so compelling. It's not a great film, but the performances are worth watching.

This is a "Hollywood true story." There was a man, there was a movie, and it did develop a cult following. Other than that, I have nothing nice to say. How is it okay to make fun of a mentally damaged man with a speech impediment? If they realized the closeup of a mans naked bum was pathetic / revolting, why keep it in? I don't really care what adult another adult is sexually attracted to, so why did they need to make this attractions feel so creepy? Also, by 45 minuets in, I was bored and wondering how much longer can this possibly go on. I am glad I watched it to the end because it reinforced my belief in Hollywood's rampant narcissism and incestuous self absorption.

A creative achievement. Cult movies can be a diverse lot--consider Blade Runner v. Rocky Horror--differently appealing to dedicated audiences. The touchstone of this creative piece is cult B-movie The Room, an indie that should be seen (first, if possible: to best consider and appreciate this work. The Room itself is prima facie funny in its pretense as drama, and this send up / doc-mockumentary is often hilarious, yet sentimental, as it showcases how friendship can support personal happiness, growth, and achievement. Fun, funny, and in ways heart warming. A winner.

I have to agree with rationallady. As well, I feel sorry for Tommy W though, he meant for his movie to be taken seriously and failed miserably. I don't think I could ever watch the movie "The Room" - it would be too heart breaking knowing the background.

Looks like all the good quotes have been posted in IMDb with the exceptions of the "Stella"s:
