Fun reading, very entertaining as were the prior books. BUT... I found it quite silly a hunter explaining how to get good deer meat by letting the animal bleed until the heart stopped beating. This is silly because all animals die when the heart stops beating; hunters do not control how long the heart beats. The heart might have stopped, but it does not mean the blood is all gone! Talk about anti-hunting prose! I hope the next books don’t go deeper into more bashing propaganda—either smoking or hunting or eating… It would be a pity.

Braun must have run out of inspiration, for this book isn't as good as some of her others. There are several murders and two large fires, more than a small town can reasonably handle.
