How could I say any more than all the other comments here. Incredibly well written, timely and necessary information told in riveting true accounts of people personally impacted by the legacy of slavery in the US. I agree it should be a required part of the history taught in schools. Every civic leader ought to also be required to read this informative account of how the treatment of segments of the population can lead to far reaching and unintended consequences. Told so magnificently I had great difficulty putting it down. I apologize to those waiting for my copy from the library. Even though it was a day or more overdue, I could not return it until l had read the whole thing. The last day I had it, I stayed in bed to finish it so nothing else could distract me from completing this compelling story.
