The main plot is that Ginger, the dog, gets stolen. I liked the suspense but it was painfully slow. The author had a good story plan but needed to pick up the pace. I would not recommend this book. Alton -10 yr old The story is a time warp to the late 1920's in a small Connecticut costal town where a brother and sister team wile away the days swimming in the bay, collecting firewood to heat their home and telling one another stories on the veranda. All the while, searching for their lost dog. Their innocence causes them to miss seemingly obvious clues to the whereabouts of their dog and therefore makes the painfully extended search a test of endurance for modern readers. Alton's Mom
