I feel conflicted. On one hand, I always enjoy an arranged marriage-turned-into-love in my romances and certainly Ildiko's and Brishen's marriage checked off all the right boxes for me. An added bonus was to discover how reasonable and mature these characters were. But on the other hand, I felt it odd that there was no awakwardness between the two from the first day of marriage. Like none at all. They acted like they'd been married for decades, the way they were talking with eachother. It felt a bit too good to be true, but strangely, I didn't mind it too much. Secondly, and most importantly, the book doesn't have much of a plot. We're literally going through the day-to-day activities of these two with the occasional fights and such. You need to be in a slow-read mood to get through this story and that certainly limits the type of reader for this book. Overall, I'm curious about the sequel and I do enjoy the characters enough to read through the slow pace. We'll see how the sequel improves upon the story.
