This book is honestly somewhat difficult for me to rate. I was rather captivated, but the ending was so...random?? I was super annoyed that the parents could be so selfish and completely victimize their baby as the outcome of their personal problems (i.e., finance and health). However, at times, I couldn't help feeling bad for them and sympathizing. The tone was fine for me. Straightforward, right to the point. BUT I was getting annoyed at all the sentences starting with pronouns. The Couple Next Door gave me some pretty significant messages too. It's a reminder that money can be blinding, causing people to make some awful choices. Anyway, I really can't say much about the book—seeing that it's a mystery and I don't want to reveal too much—but I did like it.
