It was okay. I love the Lunar Chronicles, and all those strong, upright, women protagonists. But this book was a little disappointing in that the female protagonist, Cath, was really quite indecisive and slightly weak. Even though Jest, who I LOVED, says she has the heart of a queen, I really doubted it. She didn't put other's needs before her own, she wasn't willing to sacrifice her own happiness for her people. In my mind, that is what being royalty is all about. If you don't mind that character's flawed personality, the book was great and a remarkable prequel to the Alice In Wonderland stories by Lewis Carrol. Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gire and gimble in the wabe, all mimsy where the Borow goves, and the momeraths outgrabe! 3 out of 5
